ELLIS, MORGAN ALBERT (1832 - 1901), Welsh-American preacher and editor Born 19 September 1832, at Melin-y-coed, near Machynlleth. Although his parents were in humble circumstances, he received help which enabled him to be well educated. He was master of a national school which was under the patronage of Sir Robert Williames Vaughan, bart., Nannau, Meironnydd, and afterwards became the first headmaster of the British school at Nant Peris, Caernarfonshire. ELLIS, RICHARD (1865 - 1928), librarian and bibliographer . His work on Lhuyd made him a specialist in the history of many other Welshmen who were connected with Oxford. ELLIS, THOMAS (1625 - 1673), cleric and antiquary practically went into retirement. Following the death of John Ellis (died 1665), usually referred to as his kinsman, he was made rector of Dolgelley in 1666, and held the living till his death in 1673. EVANS, ERNEST (1885 - 1965), county court judge, M.P. Circuit. He served with the R.A.S.C. in France during World War I and was promoted to the rank of Captain. From November 1918 to December 1920, he was a private secretary to David Lloyd George. In 1921, M.L. GAMAGE family Coety, Coity, , daughter of Sir Roger Vaughan of Tretower. With him the Gamages are caught up by the Welsh bardic tradition. Morgan Gamage was receiving the issues of Coety in 1488; Rhisiart ap Rhys wrote an elegy upon his death. His son, THOMAS GAMAGE, was knighted in 1513. GEORGE, THOMAS (fl. 1829-1840), miniature painter is said to have been born at Fishguard, although the date of his birth is uncertain as the Fishguard parish registers are incomplete for that period. H. M. Vaughan suggested that he was the Thomas, son of Thomas George, mason, and Ann, his wife, who was christened at Fishguard 28 May 1810, but Basil Long suggests that he was born in 1790.
