EDNYFED FYCHAN, noble family of Gwynedd branches of the family (Survey of Denbigh. lv, 297, 303; Ellis, Tribal Law and Custom, i, 113), Ednyfed's own descendants in the same period are found in the townships of Trecastell, Penmynydd, Erddreiniog, Clorach, Gwredog, Trysglwyn, and Tregarnedd in Anglesey, and in Crewyrion, Creuddyn, Gloddaeth, Dinorwig, and Cwmllannerch in Caernarfonshire (Rec. EDWARDS, CHARLES (1628 - after 1691), Puritan man of letters insanity. He completed the writing of the autobiography on 1 July 1691; what his history was after that is not known. Y Ffydd Ddi-ffuant has won a secure place for itself among Welsh prose classics. It cannot be denied that Charles Edwards is the chief writer of Welsh prose between the days of Morgan Llwyd and those of Ellis Wynne.

EDWARDS, HUMPHREY (1730 - 1788), physician and apothecary Johnson's Lives of the Poets by John Ellis, rector of Llan-rug from 1777 to 1792 (Bangor MS. 575). He is noteworthy chiefly because he sailed round the world as ship's surgeon of the frigate Tamer, one of two small warships sent out to explore the South Seas under the command of Commodore Byron, grandfather of the poet (21 June 1764 - 9 May 1766). EDWARDS, Sir IFAN ab OWEN (1895 - 1970), lecturer, founder of Urdd Gobaith Cymru of interesting courses there. He accepted modern technology and used it as best he could for the benefit of Wales. EDWARDS, JOHN KELT (1875 - 1934), artist . Hughes (Elfyn), Ellis H. Evans (Hedd Wyn), and others. After the war of 1914-18 he designed the banner and the badge of the 'Comrades of the Great War' and the roll of honour of the Royal Welch Fusiliers; he had also produced some war cartoons. EDWARDS, ROBERT (1796 - 1862), musician -four years, as precentor there, he succeeded John Ellis (1760 - 1839). He composed ' Caersalem,' 8.7.4., one of the most popular hymn-tunes in Wales. Written in 1824, it appeared in Peroriaeth Hyfryd (John Parry), 1837, and became known as ' Tôn Bob y Felin ' (Bob of the Mill's tune). EDWARDS, ROGER (1811 - 1886), Calvinistic Methodist minister was formally appointed pastor. He married, 1841, Ellen Williams of Dolgelley. They had six children. The eldest son, Ellis Edwards, became principal of Bala College; a daughter, Annie, married Sir Henry Lewis of Bangor. His was a varied and versatile career.
