PRICE, THOMAS SEBASTIAN
(d. 1704), antiquary and popish recusant
Monmouth tradition. According to Evan Evans (
Ieuan
Fardd), he wrote in defence of the British history in answer to bishop William Lloyd, 8 December 1681, and also in answer to a work by Sir George Mackenzie. In the Brogyntyn collection there is a letter of 13 March 1681 by him in which he discusses books of travel. On 15 March 1685, when interrupted in London on a proposed journey to Italy by invitation

His name sometimes occurs as Evan Richards, and his bardic name as
Ieuan
ap Rhisiart, Ifan Lleyn, and Bardd Bryncroes. He was the son of Richard Thomas, a stonemason, and Mary Charles, daughter of Siarl Marc, Tŷ-mawr, Bryncroes, one of the early Methodist preachers in Llŷn. Awst. On 11 January 1815 he married Jane Oliver, daughter of Robert Oliver, Dolgelley, by whom he had eight children. He died 16 February 1839.

(1819 - 1881), apothecary, publisher, and author
Born at Dolgelley - his mother (Catherine Rees) was a descendant of the family of Owen of Pantphylip, Llangelynnin, Merioneth. He knew Evan Jones (
Ieuan
Gwynedd) and published a biography of that writer, 1876. He arranged for the publication of Cysondeb y Pedair Efengyl (E. Robinson), 1855, the works of David Richards (Dafydd Ionawr) and poems by Sarah Jane Rees (Cranogwen). A small book which he
REES, WILLIAM
(1808 - 1873), printer and publisher
Eminent Welshmen, 1852; Carnhuanawc's Literary Remains (jointly with Longmans, London); and
Ieuan
Gwynedd's book, 1848, directed against the report of the education commissioners, 1846-7. With all this, Rees took a leading part in the public life of the town, and was the organizer of the fund to build Thomas Phillips's (1760-1851) school at Llandovery. He died 13 July 1873 and was buried at Llandingad.
REES, WILLIAM THOMAS
(Alaw Ddu; 1838 - 1904), musician
Born 29 September 1838 in the village of Pwll-y-glaw, near Pont-rhyd-y-fen, Glamorganshire, the son of Thomas and Mary Rees, natives of Laleston, near Bridgend, Glamorganshire. The family moved to Aberdare in 1851 where, after the death of his father, the son began to work, when still young, in a coal-mine. He came under the influence of John Roberts (
Ieuan
Gwyllt) and other musicians who lived
REES-DAVIES, IEUAN
(1894 - 1967), musician and author
fawr ' and ' A nocturne on Tylacoch '. That same year, with the bardic name '
Ieuan
', he became a member of the Gorsedd of bards during the national eisteddfod at Treorchy. He married (1) Jean Macdonald Fitchet (died 1938); (2) Barbara Lacey. Towards the end of his life he lived at Kingston-upon-Thames. He died 28 November 1967.
