HUW PENNAL (fl. 15th century), poet

Name: Huw Pennal
Gender: Male
Occupation: poet
Area of activity: Poetry
Author: Ray Looker

a native, apparently, of Pennal in Merioneth. Some examples of his work remain in manuscript, including cywyddau to Wiliam Herbert, earl of Pembroke, Dafydd ap Rhys of Llangurig, the three sons of Ieuan Blayney of Gregynog, and two love poems. No details regarding his life are to be found, but it is obvious that the dates given him in Blackwell, and W. Owen, Cambrian Biog. are too late.
