' awarded at Colwyn Bay in 1910. R. Williams Parry won the chair for his ode 'Yr Haf' in the same eisteddfod. A procession was organised, lead by the Nantlle band, to welcome both home from that eisteddfod. He married (1) Claudia Roberts, 12 June 1916; one daughter was born to them. (Lewis William Lewis who was appointed its editor. Islwyn died 20 November 1878, and was buried in Babell chapel burial-ground. Islwyn was taught poetry by Gwilym Ilid and Aneurin Fardd, and there were at that time several literary circles in Monmouthshire, particularly at Abergavenny. a successful American tour in 1871. She took courses in Italy (Florence, etc), under Romani and Vancini. She took part in the Crystal Palace and the Three Choirs festivals, and in many of the most important concerts given in the United Kingdom.
