WYNN family Ynysmaengwyn, Dolau Gwyn, daughter BRIDGET, who married (1) ROBERT CORBET, third son of Sir Vincent Corbet, Moreton Corbet, Salop, and (2) Sir Walter Lloyd, Llanfair Clydogau, Cardiganshire. Robert and Bridget Corbet were succeeded by VINCENT CORBET (died 1723), high sheriff of Merioneth, 1682, who married Ann, daughter of William Vaughan of Corsygedol. WYNN family Berth-ddu, Bodysgallen, church describes him as ' a great sufferer for the Royal Cause '; he left the estate (already encumbered by his father) heavily mortgaged. A contemporary painting of a man in armour, formerly at Bodysgallen, now at Gloddaeth, is traditionally identified as colonel Hugh Wynne (reproduced in Llandudno … Field Club Proceedings, XXV). WYNN family Wynnstay, camp, Barnard's Castle, 18 January 1946, was a heavy blow. Sir Watkin died at Ruthin Castle, Monday 9 May 1949 and he was buried at Llangedwyn 12 May. The baronetcy was inherited by his uncle, Sir ROBERT WILLIAM HERBERT WATKIN WILLIAMS-WYNN, Plas-yn-cefn (1862 - 1951), the 9th Baronet. WYNN, WILLIAM (1709 - 1760), cleric, antiquary, and poet , 22 September 1734, and became vicar of Llanbryn-mair 9 June 1739. At Llanbryn-mair he was involved in a dispute with Howel Harris (November 1740). He married Martha Roberts of Rhyd-onnen, Llandysilio, near Denbigh, 6 August 1742; Wynn refers to children of this marriage (Panton MS. 58 (185)), as does William Morris (Morris Letters, ii, 168). WYNNE, JOHN (1667 - 1743), bishop of St Asaph and principal of Jesus College, Oxford College until 1720, when he married Anne, daughter of Robert Pugh of Pennarth, Penmachno (see under Lloyd, Richard, of Esclus - the bishop was one of Lloyd's executors). While he was at St Asaph he spent his money freely on repairs to the cathedral and the palace; it should also be noted that Wynne was the last Welshman to be bishop of that diocese until 1870.
