From 1909 onwards he worked on various farms in the neighbourhood, including Fferam, Paradwys. He enlisted in 1914 and remained in the army until 1920, serving with the Royal Welch Fusiliers in France and Egypt.   • GRUFFYDD, ROBERT (Patrobas; 1832 - 1863), poet Born at Pen-y-maes, Nevin, Caernarfonshire, son of Robert and Catrin Gruffydd. He contributed poems to Y Dysgedydd and other journals and, in 1862, published a small volume entitled Byr Ganeuon gan Patrobas (Pwllheli). He died 20 or 21 April 1863 of tuberculosis, leaving a widow and two children, and was buried at Nevin.
