Born at Aberystwyth

November 1801. He became articled to a solicitor, and at 24 years of age had succeeded to a practice in Newcastle Emlyn. In 1825 he married Anne, daughter of John Lloyd, Allt-yr-odyn, and through his marriage inherited that estate. He married, secondly, in 1857, Elizabeth Bluett, the only child of Thomas Bluett Hardwicke of Tytherington Grange, Gloucestershire. He was a J.P

DAVIES, JOSEPH EDWARD
(1876 - 1958), international lawyer
. In 1946, he received the Medal of Merit, the highest civilian honour awarded by the U.S. government, and he received similar honours from the governments of ten other countries. He published articles in various journals between 1913 and 1947 as well as reports on industry, corporation tax and legal topics. His influential book, Mission to Moscow (1941), brought him wider fame. He married (

DAVIES, MORRIS

- NLW MS 17843-17932 (there is a selection of them on microfilm in the Merioneth Record Office). Morris Davies (or ' Moi Plas ' as he was known locally), was a cultured, likeable and humorous person. He was twice married: (

style is much more characteristic of Salesbury. Davies wrote the prefatory Epistol at y Cembru, as well as translating

Timothy and Hebrews - 2 Peter for the Testament. A quarrel is said to have prevented their promised completion of the Old Testament, but Davies left manuscript proof of his further attempts at translating parts of the New Testament. He died 7 November 1581.
