(1832 - 1900), veterinary surgeon
career at Bradford, and in 1866 was appointed principal of his old college; but about 1871 he founded the new Veterinary College in Edinburgh. He was regarded as an authority in his profession, published a number of standard works, and in 1879-80 was president of the R.C.V.S. He died in 1900. He had a son, WILLIAM
