(Ioan ap Ioan; 1800 - 1871), Baptist minister and author
original sayings, but he is best remembered to-day as a poet and biographer. He published (

WILLIAMS, JOHN (RUFUS)
(Rufus; 1833 - 1877), Baptist minister and author
1859 he was ordained minister of the English church at Dowlais, where he also kept a school for ministerial candidates, and on 6 January 1861 he moved to the Welsh church at Nebo, Ystradyfodwg, where he remained till his death 12 February 1877. He married (

(Ceulanydd; 1847? - 1899), Baptist minister, poet, and writer
, and moved to Amlwch (1875?), Tal-y-sarn, Caernarvon (1879), Tabernacle, Merthyr Tydfil (1880), and finally, in 1882, to Salem and Caersalem, Maes-teg, where he died 11 September 1899. He married, during his ministry at Denbigh, Ann Jones, daughter of David Jones, a deacon of the church; they had nine children. Ceulanydd is remembered solely for his literary works. He published (

writer in a variety of media - essays, short stories (he was a regular contributor to newspapers and journals), novels, stage and radio plays, film, children's literature and verse. He wrote his last essay on

September 2006, after a period of illness in Ysbyty Gwynedd. His funeral service was held on 11 September in Bangor Cathedral, where his grandfather the Reverend Owen Lloyd Williams had been chancellor. May 1847 at Byrdir, Llanynys parish, Vale of Clwyd. His father, Thomas Williams, was a cousin of Sir Charles James Watkin Williams. He frequented the school of J. D. Jones, the musician; in 1868 he was at a Ruthin eisteddfod, enjoying the company of such varied characters as Nefydd, Talhaiarn, and Llew Llwyfo. He tried his hand at several occupations before joining the Denbighshire police
