ROBERTS, ELLIS
(Eos Llyfnwy, Robin Ddu Eifionydd; 1827 - 1895)
, 238, gives the titles of three odes written by Robin Ddu, viz. 'Llesoldeb Gwybodaeth,' 1799, 'Dedwyddwch,' 1802, and 'Rhagluniaeth,' 1803. The date of his death is unknown, but he published a book (above) in 1816. He was buried in the Particular Baptists' burial ground at Garn Dolbenmaen. Besides

Born 24 May 1840 at Tanysgafell, Bethesda, Caernarfonshire. He was 12 when his father died and he began to work in a quarry. He was taught the rudiments of music by Owen Humphrey Davies (
Eos
Llechid). Henry Samuel Hayden then gave him some instruction and the boy was admitted, when he was 14, to the training college at Caernarvon where Hayden taught; he afterwards followed Hayden in his post. In
