he kept one of the Dr. Williams charity-schools which, on the death of Benjamin

(1756 - 1823), had been transferred from Pwllheli to Bangor. He published Pynciau Athrawiaethol, 1838, and Rhetoric, neu Areithyddiaeth Ysgrythyrol, 1810. Early in his ministry he took a prominent part in the theological controversies of the day, and was one of the first in Wales to preach the ideas of Edward

was born on 15 October 1929 in Bushey, Hertfordshire, the eldest of three children of John Henry Reed (1901-1971), a police officer, and Evelyn Mary Reed, (née Tofield, 1898-1938), a newsagent. She had a brother Bernard (born 1936) and a sister Marion (born 1938). After her mother's early death, the family moved to Essex. Audrey won a place in Chelmsford County High School for Girls
