DAVIES, JENNIE EIRIAN (1925 - 1982), journalist . She then went on to complete a teaching course with a distinction. She married the Reverend James Eirian Davies (1918-1998), a Methodist minister and poet, on 19 November 1949 and they had two sons, Siôn Eirian (born 1954) and Guto Davies (born 1958). DAVIES, JOHN (Siôn Gymro; 1804 - 1884), Independent minister, linguist, and commentator Union of Welsh Independents. He was a frequent contributor to the periodicals of the day, writing under the pseudonyms Siôn Llethi, Castellanus, and Siôn Gymro. He delighted in controversy of the kind carried on with John Roberts (1804 - 1884) in Y Dysgedydd, 1850-2, on ' Fanciful Preaching.' He excelled as a translator and commentator. DAVIES, JOHN GRIFFITH (1836 - 1861), poet and translator Second of the four children of John Davies (Siôn Gymro), Yetwen, Glandwr, Pembrokeshire (1804 - 1884), and his wife Phoebe, daughter of J. D. Griffiths and grand-daughter of John Griffiths, Glandwr (1731 - 1811). EDERN DAFOD AUR, made a small dosbarth (arrangement or grammar) of the orthography of the Welsh language and of the form of words Edern Dafod Aur' in the elegy written upon the death of Tudur Aled by Siôn ap Hywel ap Llywelyn Fychan. It is obvious that the work had become recognized as one of the ancient authorities by 1525; it is more than probable, therefore, that it belongs to the preceding century. But more research is necessary before the problem can be solved.

EDWARD ap HYWEL ap GRUFFYDD (fl. 15th century), writer of cywyddau Very little of his work is extant. In v there are two copies of his cywydd 'to ask Sir Richard for a cloak.' It can be deduced from this that it is addressed to Richard Redman, bishop of St Asaph from 1471 to 1496. In NLW MS 3047C two englynion are attributed to Edward ap Hywel, but Peniarth MS 99 attributes one of them to Siôn Tudur.
