(1883 - 1954), author, collector of letters and papers, publisher, antiquary and folk poet

Born at Melin Cae'r Berllan, Llanfihangel-y-pennant, Meironnydd. When a lad, he went to Bala to assist in bookbinding, under Robert Saunderson. He began preaching; went to the school kept by John

(1796 - 1860) at Wrexham; and was ordained in 1838. He lived in the house attached to Llwyneinion chapel, and there he died, 29 March 1854, aged 46; he was buried in the graveyard of Llidiardau
