GOODWIN, JOHN

known that his son and daughter-in-law, John and

Goodwin, described as ' Quakers,' had a daughter (Sarah) christened in Dolgelley parish church, 14 November 1766. Goodwin was buried in the Friends' burial ground at Llwyn-du (Llwyngwril), 12 December 1763.

Beatrice Green was born on 1 October 1894 at Abertillery, Monmouthshire, the seventh of eight children of William and

Dykes. Her father was a tin worker who became a miner when she was 5 years old. One of her brothers, John Arthur Dykes, was killed in a roof fall in Rose Heyworth colliery, Abertillery in 1910, aged 19. Beatrice's introduction to public life came through the Ebenezer Baptist

office he held till a month before his death on May 7, 1944. He was buried at Llandaff. He held the degrees of B.D. (1907), D.D. (1911), and D.C.L.
