TURNBULL, MAURICE JOSEPH LAWSON (1906 - 1944), cricketer and rugby player Brooke, Scunthorpe in 1939, and they had three children: Sara, Simon and Georgina. Maurice Turnbull played his first match for Glamorgan in 1924 at the age of 18 whilst still at school, and, scoring 40 runs in the first innings contributed significantly to his team's victory over Lancashire. WILLIAMS, ALBERT CLIFFORD (1905 - 1987), Labour politician He was born at Blaina on 28 June 1905, one of the several children of Daniel Williams (born c.1869), a local miner, and his wife Sara Jane (born c.1872). He received his education at local elementary schools at Blaina, Monmouthshire and began his career as a miner at the age of just 14 and then became a colliery repairer. He was the chairman of the western lodge of the miner's union, 1936-46. He
