EDWARDS, JOHN (Eos Glan Twrch; 1806 - 1887), poet and prose-writer in farming there for twenty-four years. He left Floyd in 1866 to go to a smaller farm near Rome, N.Y., where he remained until his death on 20 January 1887. He became known among Welsh Americans as a poet and prosewriter. EDWARDS, JOHN (Meiriadog; 1813 - 1906), poet and editor Born at Llanrwst, he was educated at the local grammar school, and afterwards apprenticed as a printer. Examples of his work are to be found in Corff y Gainc, 1810, namely his englyn, ' Cyffes y Bardd ' and ' Cywydd Marwnad Rowland Huw, bardd o'r Graienyn gerllaw'r Bala, 1802.' EDWARDS, THOMAS (Caerfallwch; 1779? - 1858), lexicographer accounts of some of the princes. For this service he was awarded £1,000 by the firm. He died in London, 4 July 1858, and was buried in Highgate cemetery. All his life he was interested in the Welsh language and in music. EDWARDS, WILLIAM (Gwilym Callestr, Wil Ysgeifiog; 1790 - 1855), poet for an awdl (Seren Gomer, 1832, 312), and at Mold, 1823, for an englyn. His elegy on Thomas Price (Carnhuanawc) in 1853, printed in Golud yr Oes, 1863, 112-3), was written in the asylum. Much of his work is scattered through the pages of Seren Gomer, Y Gwladgarwr, Yr Eurgrawn, Y Geninen, and Cymru (O.M.E.). ELIAS, THOMAS (Bardd Coch; 1792 - 1855), Calvinistic Methodist minister and hymn-writer appeared in Seren Gomer, 1821, 214, and a collection of his hymns, with a memoir, was published at Merthyr Tydfil in 1856.
ELLIS, ROBERT (Cynddelw; 1812 - 1875), Baptist minister, preacher, poet, antiquary, and commentator , between Oswestry and Llanrhaeadr, when he was on a preaching and lecture tour. EVANS, DANIEL (Eos Dâr; 1846 - 1915), musician Born in a thatched cottage called Tŷ Coch, near Carmarthen, son of Dafydd and Esther Evans. The family moved to Aberdare, where the boy began to work in a coalmine at the early age of 8.
