Dafydd
in the development of the bardic system pictured by Iolo himself and incorporated by him in his work on the mysteries of the bards of the Isle of Britain, are now completely discredited.

Born at Cwmbychan, Nanmor, Meironnydd, son of a weaver named
Dafydd
Prichard. When about 21 he was affected by a sermon preached by John Robert Lewis, and learned to read in the circulating school kept at Beddgelert by Robert Jones (1745-1829), of Rhos-lan. He then went to live and work in Llangybi parish, Caernarfonshire, married, and set up house at Tyddyn Ruffydd. His name appears as one of
