HALL, AUGUSTA (Lady Llanover), (Gwenynen Gwent; 1802 - 1896), patron of Welsh culture and inventor of the Welsh national costume . Influenced by founder members Lady Coffin Greenly and Thomas Price (Carnhuanawc), whom she has known since 1826, she joined the Abergavenny Cymreigyddion Society in 1834, within three months of its foundation. HAMER, Sir GEORGE FREDERICK (1885 - 1965), industrialist and public figure July 1920; one daughter (Shirley, Lady Hooson). He was educated at Llanidloes Grammar School and began his business career in 1902 when he joined the staff of his father's firm, Edward Hamer and Co., at Llanidloes. HANSON, CARL AUGUST (1872 - 1961), first head of the bindery at the National Library of Wales helped to establish. At the end of World War I he and a few friends formed a branch of the Labour Party and opened the first Co-operative Stores in the town. He took up his appointment at the National Library on 1 January 1912 and did not retire until 30 June 1959 when he celebrated his 87th birthday! He died 26 September 1961 and was buried in Llangorwen churchyard, Clarach.
HARRIS, JOSEPH (1704 - 1764), Assay-master at the Mint member of the Cymmrodorion Society. He died 26 September 1764; he was buried in the Tower. His wife (died May 1763) was Anne, daughter and co-heiress of his former neighbour Thomas Jones of Tredustan.
