THOMAS, DAVID
(Dewi Hefin; 1828 - 1909), poet
Born at Cnap-sych, Llanwenog, Cardiganshire, 4 June 1828. Educated at Cribyn school, he himself later kept schools at Cribyn, Bwlch-y-fadfa, Mydroilyn, Llanarth, Cwrtnewydd, and Llanwnnen in Cardiganshire. He retired in 1883. He contributed frequently to various magazines such as Seren Gomer and Yr Ymofynydd. Four volumes of his poems were published: Y Blodau, 1854; Blodau

Born 17 February 1874, son of Evan and Mary Jones, Tynewydd (later of Cornant and Melin Llys-faen), Cribyn, Cardiganshire. He went to schools in Cribyn and Llanwnnen (under David Thomas, ' Dewi

') until he was about ten years old. After being a farm servant and a stonemason with his father he attended the school of David Evans, minister (U) at Cribyn, (1896-98). He won a scholarship to Jesus
BOWEN, DAVID
(Myfyr Hefin; 1874 - 1955), minister (B) and editor
school at Pontypridd and to the University College at Cardiff for the year 1908-09. He won the chair at the students' eisteddfod in January 1909. He was called to the pastorate of Bethel, Lower Chapel, near Brecon and laboured there to restore Welsh as he had seen William Morris do at Noddfa, Treorchy.
