MORGAN, ELUNED (1870 - 1938), writer and Patagonian colonist
SAUNDERS, WILLIAM (1871 - 1950), minister (B) and educationalist education committee. For his services to education the University of Wales conferred on him an hon. LL.D. degree in 1946. He and his wife Jane had a daughter, Eluned, who was a doctor in London. He died 2 May 1950 and was buried in Pontycymer cemetery.
HUGHES, ARTHUR (1878 - 1965), writer students, viz. Cywyddau Cymru, 1908 and Gemau'r Gogynfeirdd, 1910. His translation of one of Drummond's works, Y ddinas heb ynddi deml, appeared in 1904; the second volume of Drummond's works was edited by Gwyneth Vaughan. His mother died in 1910, and the following year he emigrated to the Welsh colony in Patagonia under the patronage of Eluned Morgan, mainly because of a nervous complaint. He was given

JONES, LEWIS (1837 - 1904), pioneer in Patagonia, and writer and started two newspapers - Ein Breiniad, 1878, and Y Dravod, 1891; the latter is still being published. A lecture given before the Cymmrodorion in 1885, when he was visiting Wales, was subsequently published, and his book Y Wladfa Gymreig was published in 1898. JONES, FRANCIS WYNN (1898 - 1970), statistician and writer , as well as official publications relating to his statistical work. At a troubled time in the story of the Welsh language he fought quietly for its equal status and voluntarily translated a number of forms and documents before there was a general call for them. He married in 1926 Eluned, daughter of T. Gwynn Jones and his wife and they had a son and daughter. He died in Aberystwyth 21 December 1970.
THOMAS, JOHN ROWLAND (1881 - 1965), religious leader and prominent merchant ', Dollis Hill, there was an open door for a host of Welsh people, especially ministers of the Gospel. They had 3 daughters; Morfudd, who married J. Idris Jenkins, the first minister of the Welsh Congregational church at Harrow; Gwyneth; and Eluned Marian, who emigrated to Toronto, Canada, and who was President of the North American Welsh National Gymanfa Ganu Association 1976-78. He died 16 April 1965.
JONES, DAFYDD RHYS (1877 - 1946), schoolmaster and musician ' School in Aberdare, before taking charge of Cwmystwyth school in December 1902. At the end of March 1906 he returned to Patagonia to be first headmaster of the secondary school there. A few weeks earlier Eluned Morgan had visited Cwmystwyth school and addressed the pupils. Apparently there was a connection between this visit and his appointment as headmaster in Gaiman where he spent 8 influential and

He met his wife, Winifred Mary Gambold (1924-1987), a nurse from Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire at the London Welsh Club, and they married in February 1950, and went on to have four children, Gareth (b. 1952), Aled (b. 1953), Megan (b. 1955), and Eluned (b. 1960). WILLIAMS, WILLIAM NANTLAIS (1874 - 1959), minister (Presb.), editor, poet and hymn writer schoolroom was built at Pantyffynnon in 1904, and another in Tir-y-dail in 1906 (a church was established there in 1911; see W.N. Williams, Y Deugain Mlynedd Hyn (Ammanford, 1921)). A beautiful new chapel was built at Bethany in 1930.
