  • DAVIS, ELIZABETH (1789 - 1860), nurse and traveller Betsi Cadwaladr was born on 24 May 1789 at Penrhiw near Bala, Merioneth, and was apparently the thirteenth of the sixteen children born to Dafydd Cadwaladr (1752-1834), farmer, and his wife Judith (née Humphreys or 'Erasmus', died 1800).
