DAVIES, BEN
(1878 - 1958), Independent minister
, near Carmarthen who were in the lineage of Samuel Bowen, Macclesfield (1799 - 1877. They had one daughter,
Arianwen
, and three sons, Elwyn, Alun and Hywel. He began his ministry in the churches of Siloh, Pontardulais, and Hen Gapel, Llanelli. In 1907 he went to Hermon, Plas-marl, Swansea and remained there until 1914. He served in Seion, Llandysul from 1914 to 1924. He moved to Capel Newydd
JENKINS, DAVID LLOYD
(1896 - 1966), writer, poet and schoolmaster
Chapel where he served as the precentor and, on occasions, preached. Two of his hymns are included in the school's service book - the school hymn and the St. David's Day hymn. He married on 29 December 1929,
Arianwen
Elizabeth Ann (Ane), the eldest daughter of Gruffydd Thomas Lewis, the school's headmaster, and they had a daughter. He died 5 August 1966.

Alun Davies was born in the manse of the Welsh Independents in the main street of Llandysul, Cardiganshire, 30 October 1916, one of four children of Rev. Ben Davies (1878-1958), minister of the Welsh Independents, and his wife Sarah (née Bowen). The eldest child was Nan (

), the second Elwyn Davies, Secretary of the University of Wales, the third was Alun, and the fourth the broadcaster
