CAYO-EVANS, WILLIAM EDWARD JULIAN (1937 - 1995), political activist Cayo Evans was born on 22 April 1937 at Glandenys, Silian, a mansion on the main road two miles west of Lampeter. His father, John Cayo Evans (1879-1958), was Professor of Mathematics at St David's College, Lampeter and he was High Sheriff of Cardiganshire in 1941-42. His mother was Freda Cayo Evans (née Cluneglas) from Cellan, Ceredigion. Cayo Evans was educated at Millfield School in Somerset
MATTHEWS, DANIEL HUGH (1936 - 2020), Baptist minister and college principal ordained to serve a small group of churches on the Cardiganshire-Carmarthenshire border, namely Noddfa Lampeter, Bethel Silian and Caersalem Parc-y-rhos. At Bangor he met Verina James (1941-2012), a student at the Normal College and the youngest of five children of Arthur and Katie James, a musical family who worshipped at the Salem Baptist church in Llangyfelach, not far from the Matthews' home. MORGAN, JOHN (d. 1504), clerk of parliament, and bishop 1496 Morgan gave up all his other preferments and his secular offices. During his episcopate, for part of which his register has survived, he increased the number of cathedral choristers from four to six and appropriated to them the churches of Llanwnnen, Silian, and Llan-y-cefn. He built the episcopal throne in the choir at S. Davids, and, in his will, dated 25 April, and proved 29 May 1504
