DAVIES, MORRIS (Meurig Ebrill; 1780 - 1861), poet ; they include englynion and about a dozen carols. His first publication, Diliau Meirion, appeared in 1853, followed next year by a second part; this latter has a preface by Griffith Griffiths (Gutyn Ebrill). EDWARDS, GRIFFITH (Gutyn Padarn; 1812 - 1893), cleric, poet and antiquary
EDWARDS, ROBERT (Robin Ddu o Feirion; 1775 - 1805), poet and antiquary a native of Trawsfynydd, Meironnydd. Examples of his work are to be found in Corff y Gainc, 1810, namely his englyn, ' Cyffes y Bardd ' and ' Cywydd Marwnad Rowland Huw, bardd o'r Graienyn gerllaw'r Bala, 1802.' EDWARDS, WILLIAM (Gwilym Padarn; 1786 - 1857), poet ', without, however, acknowledging the controversial and repugnant nature of his activity during this period. He was buried at Llanberis 3 October 1857. His son, Griffith Edwards (Gutyn Padarn), is separately noticed.
GUTO'R GLYN (fl. second half of the 15th century), bard was, at heart, more Welshman than Yorkist, although according to the bard Gutyn Owain he wore the collar and badge of king Edward. He died at Valle Crucis, c. 1493, and the abbot, Dafydd ap Ieuan who had looked after him so tenderly during the vicissitudes of old age and blindness, saw also to his obsequies and funeral feast.

JONES, DAVID HUGH (Dewi Arfon; 1833 - 1869), minister (CM), schoolmaster and poet Born in Ty Du, Llanberis, Caernarfonshire, 6th July 1833, to Hugh and Ellen Jones. He was the eldest of 4 children; one brother was Griffth Hugh Jones, ('Gutyn Arfon'), composer of the hymn-tune ' Llef ', written in memory of Dewi Arfon. When Dewi Arfon was about 5, he went to a school kept by Ellis Thomas, in Capel Coch, Llanberis, and then to a school kept by John Evans, Ceunant Coch. He left

OWEN, ELIAS (1833 - 1899), cleric and antiquary prolific writer, his best-known literary work is The Old Stone Crosses of the Vale of Clwyd, 1886. Another work, Welsh Folk-Lore, 1896, was a prize-essay at the 1887 national eisteddfod (London). He also edited (1895) the works of Griffith Edwards (Gutyn Padarn). PRITCHARD, EVAN (Ieuan Lleyn; 1769 - 1832), poet schoolmaster in Bryncroes and adjoining parishes till his death on 14 August 1832. He was a frequent competitor at eisteddfodau, e.g. at Denbigh in 1792 on ' Cyflafan y Beirdd,' at Bala in 1793 on ' Tymhorau'r Flwyddyn,' and at Denbigh in 1828 on ' Gwledd Belsassar.'
