DAVIES, GWILYM PRYS (1923 - 2017), lawyer, politician and language campaigner Trefor Morgan, they formed a new political party. During this time Gwilym met Llinos Evans, a student from Abercynon, and on 29 September 1951 they were married at Bethel Chapel, Hirwaun, with the Reverend J. Eirian Davies officiating. DAVIES, JAMES EIRIAN (1918 - 1998), poet and minister Eirian Davies was born on 28 May 1918, the son of Rachel and Dafydd Davies, both natives of Brechfa who had settled at a farm called Llain near Nantgaredig. His father was prominent in the religious life of the region and an elder at the local Presbyterian chapel. They had three children, Gareth and two daughters, Gwyneth and Eirian. He died 1 May 1953.
LLOYD, WILLIAM (1901 - 1967), tutor and setter of words to cerdd dant and composer of harp airs national eisteddfod at Rhyl for composing a series of airs suitable for penillion singing. Realising the need for such airs, he proceeded to compose and publish a number of airs which became very popular, including ' Rhoshelyg ' and ' Mwynen Eirian '.
