MORGAN, Sir THOMAS
(c. 1542 - 1595), soldier
colonel of the regiment of English volunteers and acted as governor of Flushing and Bergen-op-Zoom. His principal services were to accustom English soldiers to the use of the musket and to train a school of officers, which included Sir Roger
Williams
, to carry on his work. Morgan returned to England in 1593, and died at New Fulham on 22 December 1595.

re-opening by Evan Davies and Samuel Thomas. His diaries give us a lively picture of the Academy, at work and at play. He entered Pontypool Baptist College in 1875, and was minister successively at Caersalem, Dowlais (1878-95), Ainon, Cardiff (1895-1900) where he was appointed, with Thomas Powel, to reorganise the Salusbury library in the University College of South Wales and Monmouthshire, and finally at Skewen

(1834 - 1897), mechanical engineer and manufacturer, and inventor
Born 31 March 1834 at Penydarren, Merthyr Tydfil, Glamorganshire. He worked in the mines until he had an accident, at the age of ten, which resulted in the loss of the left leg below the knee. After the accident he attended schools taught by John Thomas (Ieuan Ddu), Owen Evans, and Taliesin

MORGAN, TREFOR RICHARD
(1914 - 1970), company director
close friendship with D.J.
Williams
(1885 - 1970) and his wife in Fishguard. In World War II he was a conscientious objector on nationalist grounds. In 1943 he married Gwyneth, daughter of Arthur and Mary (née Daniel) Evans of Aberdare, and they had four children. He was a parliamentary candidate for Plaid Cymru in Ogmore in 1945 and in 1946, for Abertillery in 1955, and for Brecon and Radnor in 1966
MORGAN, WILLIAM
(Y Bardd; 1819 - 1878), poet
were, in the main, responsible for the 'cymanfa ganu' movement which, inaugurated at Aberdare in 1859, spread soon afterwards to various parts of Wales. He married Mary, sister of Noah Morgan Jones (Cymro Gwyllt). David

(Alaw Goch) was his brother-in-law, the husband of his sister Ann. He died 7 September 1878, and was buried in Aberdare cemetery.
MORGAN, WILLIAM
(1801 - 1872), Baptist minister
, and a Cofiant in memory of Robert
Williams
of Ruthin, and published Cofiant a Gweithiau Christmas Evans, the profits of which he made over to Evans's widow. His masterpiece, however, was Cysondeb y Ffydd (672 pages). He died of a stroke, 15 September 1872.
MORGAN, WILLIAM
(1750 - 1833), actuary and scientist
William Morgan was born in Newcastle, Bridgend, Glamorgan, on 26 May 1750, the third of eight children and the first son of William Morgan (1708-1772), apothecary and doctor, and his wife Sarah (née Price, 1726-1803), sister of the philosopher Richard Price. The precise date of his birth is given by Caroline

MORRIS, DAVID
(1744 - 1791), Calvinistic Methodist exhorter, and hymn-writer
the common people. He began to get stout when he was still young and this prevented him from touring as much as some of his contemporaries.
