EDWARDS, WILLIAM (1719 - 1789), Independent minister, and architect Born at Ty Canol, Groes-wen, a farm in Eglwysilan parish, Glamorganshire; christened 8 February 1719, son of Edward Dafydd who died 6 January 1726, after which the family moved to Bryn-tail, another Groes-wen farm. EDWARDS, WILLIAM ROBERT (Glanllafar; 1858 - 1921), Congregational minister, poet, and littérateur Born 19 September 1858 at Tŷ Coch, Parc, Bala, son of Edward Jones Edwards and Annie his wife. He was educated in the local schools and at the Independent College, Bala, under Michael D. Jones. The family were Methodists, but he became a member of Hen Gapel Llanuwchllyn (Congregational) in 1876, and about the same time began to preach. ELDRIDGE, MILDRED ELSIE (1909 - 1991), artist Society in 1927 and 1928, she entered Wimbledon School of Art from which she won a Free Studentship to the Royal College of Art (1930); there she studied in the School of Painting where her tutors included Eric Ravilious, Edward Bawden and Gilbert Spencer. ELLIS, DAVID (1736 - 1795), cleric, poet, translator, and transcriber of manuscripts , Caernarfonshire, Llangeinwen, Anglesey, Derwen, Denbighshire, and Amlwch, Anglesey, before he was appointed vicar of Llanberis, 9 October 1788. He became vicar of Criccieth on 19 July 1789, and there he remained until his death. He was buried at Criccieth, 11 May 1795.
