Born 15 April 1806, at Tyn-y-fedw, Llanuwchllyn, Meironnydd. He received some education under Michael Jones and was a member of 'Cymdeithas Cymreigyddion Llanuwchllyn.' He emigrated to the U.S.A. in 1828, lived for a while in New York, in Utica in 1831, and again in New York (1834-42), where he married
