Myriel Davies was born in Swansea on 5 March 1920, the daughter and second child of a Congregationalist (Independent) minister, David
Morgan
(1883-1959), and his wife Sarah Jane (née Jones, 1885-1953). Her brother, Herbert Myrddin

(1918-1999), had been born two years previously. She spent her early years at Glyn Neath, Caerau, Maesteg and Whitland before moving, aged 12, to Bancyfelin
