son of David Williams (born c. 1824) of Glasdo, Llan Ffestiniog, (a descendant of William Prichard of Clwchdyrnog, Anglesey), and his wife Ann Owen (c.1823-1867). He was born 21 July 1848. After getting a little education at a dame's school in the village, he obtained employment in the firm of J. and N. Phillips of Manchester, and spent the rest of his life travelling for it in North Wales. He was one of the founders of the Princes Road Presbyterian church, Bangor, and was elected one of its first elders. He was a true scholar and, in 1908, at the request of the Guild of Graduates of the University of Wales, brought out a new edition of Deffynniad Ffydd Eglwys Loegr by Maurice Kyffin. He was twice married (1) to Emily (died 17 September 1881), and (2) to her sister, Annie Ada (died 26 February 1925), daughters of Henry Lloyd Jones, solicitor, of Bangor (J. E. Griffith, Pedigrees, 154). He died 31 July 1916.
