A native of Aberystwyth according to Bye-Gones (but an englyn in Y Geninen refers to him as a Merioneth man), but a native of Dolgelley, according to the Welsh Gazette and Cambrian News, he was for a time foreman in the Cambrian News printing works, Aberystwyth. Afterwards he was for over twenty years on the staff of the Western Mail, Cardiff, first as a day overseer and later as editor of the Weekly Mail. He wrote much on Welsh affairs and was regarded in his day as a champion of the Welsh language. He died at Aberystwyth, 15 June 1906.
