Born in 1749 at Dolydd-byrion, near CricciethCriccieth, Caernarfonshire. He wrote several anthems and hymn-tunes which he left in manuscript. His anthem, ' Arglwydd, chwiliaist ac adnabuost fi,' became very popular; this was arranged by William Owen, Tremadoc, and afterwards by John Roberts (Ieuan Gwyllt), the latter's arrangement appearing in Y Cerddor Cymreig, nos. 107 and 108 (see also a letter in Y Cerddor Cymreig, March 1870). He died in 1779, and was buried in the churchyard of Llandwrog, Caernarfonshire.
