Daughter of Owen de la Pole by Joanna Corbet, and granddaughter of Gruffydd ap Gwenwynwyn. As heiress of her only brother, Gruffydd, who died in 1309, she became a ward of the Crown, being given in marriage, together with the barony of Powys, to John Cherleton or Charlton in the same year. She had two sons - John, second lord Charlton of Powys, and Owen who died without issue. Hawise was probably buried at the house of the Grey Friars, Shrewsbury.
