who lived at Tŷr-clai (or Tir-y-clai), Llanfynydd, Carmarthenshire. He was celebrated in his day because of his remarkable appearance and his unconventional method of preaching; he was responsible for the conversion of the celebrated Jenkin Thomas ('Siencyn Penhydd,' 1746 - 1807). He, with others, built the first Methodist chapel at Llanfynydd c. 1771. He is called 'Evan David of Tir y Clai, Cordwainer' in the will of Morgan Rhys, 1779 - he was one of the executors of the last will of that hymn-writer. The date of his death is not known.
