Born at Tre-donfaen in the parish of Llanfabon, Glamorganshire. He emigrated to the U.S.A. in 1841, stayed for some time in Utica, N.Y., and proceeded to Pottsville, Pennsylvania, where he lived from 1845 to 1884. He had charge of a Baptist church at St. Clair for a while, but took up printing; he also acted as secretary to a shipping company. He started, in 1842, Y Seren Orllewinol, which had a life of twenty-six years; it was he also who started, edited, and published Y Wasg Americanaidd, 1868, which had a circulation among the Baptists.
