JONES, OWEN GLYNNE (1867 - 1899), mountaineer and schoolteacher Born 2 November 1867 in 110, Clarendon St., Paddington, fourth of the six sons of David Jones, stonemason, and his wife Eliza (née Griffiths), both of Barmouth, Meironnydd. His mother died in 1882 (his father in 1890) and Owen and his only sister Nellie (Margaret Ellen) made their home with a cousin and her husband, Alderman John Evans, 11 Brogyntyn, Barmouth, where Welsh was the language of the
JONES, OWEN WYNNE (Glasynys; 1828 - 1870), cleric, antiquary, story-writer, and poet , where Eben Fardd was his neighbour. In 1855 he was sent to take charge of a school at Llanfachreth, Meironnydd, where he came into contact with Ab Ithel, who was then at Llan-ym-mawddwy; they co-operated in arranging eisteddfodau in which Glasynys competed. JONES, PHILIP (1618 - 1674), colonel in the Parliamentary army and member of Cromwell's Second (or 'Other') House He was born at the Great House, Swansea, though his family estate lay at Pen-y-waun in Llangyfelach. JONES, REES (Amnon; 1797 - 1844), farmer and poet Born at Talgarreg, 8 October 1797, the elder brother of John Jones (1802 - 1863). He lost his father when he was 12 years of age. He had been to David Davis of Castellhywel's school and could read Latin, but, owing to his family's straitened circumstances, was withdrawn from school and spent the remainder of his life farming. JONES, REES CRIBIN (1841 - 1927), Unitarian minister and teacher , School Board and the Board of Guardians. He was interested in spiritualism. Watcyn Samuel Jones (1877 - 1964) was a child of his first marriage to Mari Jones (10 January 1873). She died on 11 March 1898. His second wife, Mary Ann, died on 8 February 1945 and he himself died on 11 August 1927. His son dedicated his book, Helyntion hen bregethwr a'i gyfoedion, 1940, to his stepmother.

JONES, RICHARD IDWAL MERVYN (1895 - 1937), schoolmaster, poet, and dramatist Born 8 June 1895 at Rhoslwyn, LampeterLampeter, Cardiganshire, the son of D. Teifi Jones, a native of Cwmerfin who became a well-known Liberal and conductor of eisteddfodau, and his wife Mary, who was descended from the Jones family of Llwynrhys - she was the daughter of the Rev. JONES, ROBERT (1560 - 1615), priest, of the Society of Jesus the recusant body. In 1608 executions of priests had recommenced, and the oath of allegiance was enforced intensively by the proclamation of 2 June 1610. JONES, ROBERT LLOYD (1878 - 1959), schoolmaster, children's writer and dramatist Alice Jones, Minffordd (died 1942), and three sons were born to them; (2) in 1944 to Sarah Roberts, Bethesda (died 1962). He died at Tre-garth 3 February 1959 and was buried at Coetmor cemetery, Bethesda.
