THOMAS, JOHN (1691 - 1766), bishop of Salisbury

Name: John Thomas
Date of birth: 1691
Date of death: 1766
Gender: Male
Occupation: bishop of Salisbury
Area of activity: Religion
Author: Robert Thomas Jenkins

There is a short but interesting account of his career in the D.N.B.; he was born 23 June 1691, and died 19 July 1766. His father was a brewer's drayman, but Robert Williams (Enwogion Cymru: a Biographical Dictionary of Eminent Welshmen ) states - without giving the source of his information - that the bishop was born at Dolgelley.
