Born at Cynwyd, Meironnydd. He went to Bala as a lad, and was a weaver in a factory belonging to Simon Lloyd; he became a Calvinistic Methodist elder. In 1819 he published Aberth Moliant, neu Ychydig Hymnau; one or more of these hymns of his will be found in practically all our present-day hymnaries. He died 2 May 1822, aged 58.
