Born at Glanrafon, Pencarreg, Carmarthenshire, 17 December 1823. In 1839 his parents moved to Dowlais, and in 1840 he became a member of Bethania, where, in 1846, he began to preach. After a preliminary course at Ffrwd-y-fal school he was admitted in 1848 to the Independent College, Brecon. In June 1852 he was ordained at Bethel, Llansamlet, but in January 1854 moved to Siloah, Llanelly, where he spent the rest of his life. He was editor of Y Diwygiwr from 1865 to 1879. He wrote and lectured extensively on scientific subjects and published a volume of sermons. He died 29 February 1898.
